KTNs have been set up by the Technology Strategy Board to drive the flow of knowledge within, in and out of specific communities. KTNs are funded to bring together diverse organisations and provide activities and initiatives that promote the exchange of knowledge and the stimulation of innovation in these communities.  Their goals are to accelerate the UK’s transition to a low carbon, resource and energy efficient economy by connecting businesses, universities, other research organisations and government agencies, and catalysing innovation across a wide range of environmental technologies. The Environmental Sustainability Knowledge Transfer Network has four key priority action areas: 1. water management, 2. land management and food production, 3. resource efficiency and waste management and 4. renewable energy and carbon sequestration. More info is available from their website here.
